TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF:

I am a retired Elementary Physical Education teacher with thirty-six years experience. I did my undergraduate studies at a Christian school in Arkansas named Harding College. I obtained my Master of Science degree from West Virginia University in 1984. I started a second Masters in Cardiac Rehab at Marshall University, but did not finish.

WHY DID YOU JOIN LEGENDS?

I came to Legends by an invitation from Cindy Skiles. Needless to say, I’m hooked!!

WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE?

The best experience at Legends has been meeting so many nice people. We laugh, encourage, and just simply enjoy our time. My favorite workouts have been with the Thera Ball.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST IMPROVEMENT?

I believe my biggest improvement from the sessions has been increases leg strength. With strength comes confidence. I feel I am walking faster. However, there are more challenges I would like to overcome and become stronger with.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEW MEMBER?

To a new member I would say “Welcome”. If you are interested in functional fitness, want to meet super people, and just be amazed of the results you will see and feel, then Legends is for you.

Tell us a little about yourself:

I am 75 years old. I am originally from Manassas, VA but now live in Culloden, WV. I am retired military and I am retired from the Department of Highways.

Why did you join Legends?

I joined in August 2019, after I had therapy at Teays Physical Therapy following knee surgery. I joined so that I could stay active and just keep moving. I also knew Shelby and Ralph, who were already members.

What is your most memorable experience?

Most memorable experience was the day we learned how to get up from the floor correctly. That has been very beneficial in my life.

What has been your biggest improvement?

The biggest area of improvement for me has just been being able to move and do things I want to do without pain and with minimal limitation.

What advice would you give to a new member?

Take the class seriously and just do your best, but have fun. The class has great coaches that are there for you and the other members are great as well.

Kristen Hensley - Sophomore, Winfield High School, Softball

I chose Potential Plus because they have trained several athletes from Winfield High School in the past. Hannah is awesome! She is very knowledgeable, motivating and very outgoing. Hannah has helped me gain strength and develop into a stronger overall athlete in my school sport (Softball). Potential Plus is a great place to reach whatever fitness goals you may have. It’s a fun, friendly and challenging atmosphere to improve your performance.

Guard, Women’s Basketball

I wanted to increase my flexibility and speed and strengthen my knees, which have given me some issues in the past. My goals were definitely met and I feel like the skills I gained will be an asset to my basketball career going forward. The workouts were not repetitive at all. They were always something new and challenging for me to push myself. Jonah Skiles is a knowledgeable trainer and always provided me with a positive environment and a great experience.

We came to Potential Plus for the individualized, expert training to increase performance and decrease risk of injury. We love it here. The strength coaches are experts in their field, and great with kids and young athletes. They emphasize proper form and have a systematic plan for development and improvement. They use a specific plan to overcome different issues and weaknesses by properly progressing the athletes and children.

I (Cindy) have been coming to the 5:30am class for 6 years, even before it was CrossFit. Steve said he would never work out that early, but 2 years ago he tried it and we have been coming together ever since. Revved Up CrossFit (RUCF) and it’s coaches have provided us with workouts that are challenging and different each day. Their philosophy of fitness has made us healthier and stronger than we’ve ever been.

I chose Potential PLUS because I had back surgery and my doctor recommended I begin weight training to strengthen my core. I also had double hernia surgery in January and was determined not to give up on my fitness goals. I was taking a Zumba class in the facility and saw a group of adults taking part in the Adult Fitness class. They were working hard and having a lot of fun. I thought it could be a good fit for me so I decided to give the class a try.

I chose Revved Up CrossFit because of my wife; she started to work out here I and decided to check it out. As a former athlete I was interested in doing a lot of the movements and exercises that I used to do as a wrestler & football player. After watching a couple classes, I researched CrossFit for more information and watched a lot of videos on it. I also did my research into the staff at Potential PLUS.
