Congratulations to Revved UP CrossFit Member of the Month, Rebekah Parsons!!

Tell us a little about yourself.

Crossfit Member of the Month.jpg

I am 31 years old and I live and work as an accountant in Charleston, WV.  I graduated from West Virginia State where I attended school with Coach Ken Martin.  When I’m not working I like to exercise.   I am an avid runner and do Zumba because I love to dance.  I enjoy baking, the beach and traveling, especially to Disney.  I also like spending time with my nephews and nieces. When I was younger I cheered for 9 years and played volleyball.

What is your most memorable CrossFit experience?

My most memorable CrossFit experience is when I completed the Murph.  The Murph is a workout that entails a one mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 pushups, 300 air squats followed by another one mile run.   I did better than I had hoped.

Why did you try CrossFit?

My friend, Coach Ken, told me about it and invited me to come.  I come on Mondays and Wednesdays and clinic class on Sundays.

What has been your biggest challenge or improvement?

My biggest challenge is mentally getting through the workout. My biggest improvement have been the toes to bar exercise.  When I first started I could barely hang on the bar but now I can do the exercise. I am able to do a hand stand and walk along the wall, which surprised me because all of my strength is in my legs and lower body.  Before Revved Up CrossFit I didn’t have much upper body strength.

What is your favorite workout?

My favorite workout is the Murph because I really enjoy running more than rowing.  I like workouts that include rope climbing and toes to bar.

What advice would you give to a new member?

Just come and try it.  My priority is to work and workout because working out gives me my sanity and makes me feel good.  I have made a lot of friends here and I really like working with the coaches at Revved Up CrossFit.  I drive from Charleston to take the class and then see my parents who live in the area.
